Summary

Promotora Policies and Procedures (PDF)

This 24-page tool provides sample guidelines that a health center or program might use when working with promotoras. It was developed by and for the Gateway Community Health Center diabetes program in Laredo, TX, but particulars can be tailored for use at different sites. It describes the potential role of a promotora and promotora coordinator for a diabetes self management program. It also provides sample standing orders for promotoras, sample responsibilities, a competency checklist, a promotora evaluation, sample documentation guidelines, and other useful information.
